Drs. Resnick and Rosenfeld Can Help Bring Back Infected Teeth from the Brink with Root Canal Therapy
November 4, 2013
Out of all the dental procedures a person can undergo, “root canal” always seems to be the phrase that sends potential patients running for the door. It seems that over time, the procedure has developed a bad reputation for being a needlessly invasive and painful procedure. While this may have been true in the past when more rudimentary tools and procedures were relied on, our team at Resnick and Rosenfeld, DDS, is happy to be the first to let you know that today, root canal therapy is a perfectly smooth and simple procedure when supplemented with advanced anesthesia and technology options. In fact, the procedure can rescue severely injured or decayed teeth that are facing extraction and restore them to full health! Drs. Resnick and Rosenfeld understand how important it for patients to retain their natural pearly whites; that’s why they’re happy to offer root canal therapy at their Edison, NJ office as way to keep patients’ smiles safe and whole for years to come!
What happens during root canal therapy?
Root canal therapy takes only one appointment to complete, and the process is simple enough. We’ll create an opening in the affected tooth so as to thoroughly clean out the bacteria and diseased pulp within the canals that have been causing the problem. Then, we’ll seal off the area to protect it from further infection. Finally, we’ll create a customized crown that will fully restore the tooth’s form and function. When we’re finished, it’ll be difficult to tell there was ever anything wrong with the tooth in the first place!
Okay, but will it hurt?
Thankfully, most people who undergo root canal therapy say that the procedure hurts no more than receiving a common filling does. In fact, we think root canal therapy’s benefits far outweigh any momentary discomfort – it has an incredibly high success rate, and many teeth that are treated go on to last a lifetime. Isn’t that something to smile about?
Contact our Edison office today to schedule an appointment! Drs. Resnick and Rosenfeld are also happy to welcome patients from Clark, Plainfield, Scotch Plains, Westfield, Colonia, and beyond.
